Adult Sailing Program (Ages 18+)
This course is great opportunity to try sailing for the first time or jump on board again. Designed for the beginning sailor, the course seeks to provide active learning of the skills and knowledge needed to be a sailboat owner and pursue the lifelong enjoyment of sailing.
The course will be taught in Flying Scot class boats. Students will learn everything from launching and retrieving a boat on a trailer, to rigging, to departing and returning from a dock, to the most basic of sailing skills all while actually sailing the boat. Seamanship and safety are always stressed. Some classroom instruction will occur when necessary to clarify and build upon on the water experiences.
-The program costs $125 per section (2 weeks, 5 classes).
-Class size is limited to 6 students per course section.
-Class starts at 6 p.m. and ends around 8/8:30 p.m. for the first 4 classes.
-All Students are required to have a life jacket.
- In the event of a cancelation due to weather the class will be rescheduled the succeeding week on the first day of a normally scheduled session.
-The 5th and final class is a 'sail-along' on a Saturday morning starting at 9 a.m. Students will sail with OSC club members on several different types of sailboats and have the opportunity to practice their skills as captain and crew.
